August 7, 2009- We just got word from one of our parts distributors that in the next few days, SRAM is going to announce a recall on some of their connecting links used on their 10-speed chains. This includes the connecting links found on the following chains:
PC-1090 (SRAM Red)
PC-1070 (SRAM Force)
PC-1050 (SRAM Rival)
PC-1030
The recall is specific to the LINK, not the entire chain. On the connecting link itself (the darker, black link) there should be a letter stamped on the outer plate on the right side. Only letters M and N are affected.
If you have an M or N on your chain, you should stop riding your bike immediately and contact us for inspection and replacement of the link; your current chain can still be used. We should have replacement links by weeks end.
