New Bicycle

At Cascade Bicycle Studio, the sale of a new bicycle is the core service we offer.   We proudly represent four brands at CBS:   Seven Cycles, BMC, Ibis, and Sycip. By partnering with these brands, we are able to deliver you a tailored and optimized bicycle, matched to your riding style and goals.    We place equal value on all riding disciplines, with commuting-by-bike ranking just as important as cyclocross racing.

Our new bicycles start around $2500 for a complete bike, and our 1-on-1 appointments are always conducted at no charge, so you can feel comfortable meeting with us and asking as many questions as you’d like, knowing that the “meter” is not running!    Generally, we meet with clients three different times throughout the new bicycle process:

Visit 1: Initial visit:  no charge
A first visit with CBS is relaxed and conversational.   We would spend as much time needed discussing which elements of a new bicycle are important to you.   Additionally, we would review:

  • Model and brand selection
  • Component options
  • Timeline for the delivery of your new bicycle
  • Estimated costs

If you are ready to order a new bicycle, we collect a nominal deposit, and would take body dimensions and current bicycle measurements.

Visit 2: Design proposal and confirmation:  no charge

  • Review of design proposal
  • Simulation of recommended fit
  • Design question and answer session
  • Finalize model
  • Finalize components
  • Confirm design

Visit 3: New bicycle delivery:  no charge
Fine-tune position on bicycle
New bicycle functionality question and answer session

We offer a variety of bicycle fitting services to ensure your current bicycle is optimized for you. read more

Bicycle Fitting

CL-1 Cleat fitting:  $75
Have you purchased new shoes and pedals and desire to have your feet placed in the most optimal position to minimize injury and maximize power? Spend time with Cascade Bicycle Studio placing your feet in an optimal position using the Bikefitting.com Shoe Cleat Adjuster™.

CF-1 Current bike fit: $200***
(parts and part installation labor not included)
The focus of this fitting session is to position you-the-rider on your current bike so the three areas of contact—hands, feet, and rump—provide the most amount of comfort, power, and efficiency. Throughout this fitting session, we’ll:
a. Collect Body Data
b. Collect Current Bike Data
c. Discuss and Review challenges to current fit
d. Propose solutions to improved fit
e. Discuss componentry required and cost

CF-2 Current bike fit with cleat fitting: $250***
This fitting session includes the cleat work done in CL-1 in addition to the fit work done in CF-1.

Zac Daab, the studio’s founder, has made thousands of fit recommendations to optimize the rider’s comfort, power, and efficiency. We look forward to working with you on optimizing your current bicycle fit.

*** A note on fits performed by other retailers: Every so often we’ll hear from clients who want to re-do a fitting performed by another bicycle retailer. We have a high amount of respect for all retailers performing bicycle fits. In the event that we change your position, please note that we are providing you with our very best recommendation; we are not necessarily commenting on your last fit. If a component needs to be changed, we will not ask for the previous retailer to pay for the service we provide, nor the components that may be required to positioning you to our recommendation. If there is any dissatisfaction with your previous fit, please take up compensation questions with your previous retailer before seeing us.

Service

We reserve our shop time to provide maintenance services for all CBS clients at a reasonable labor rate, for the lifetime of ownership.   Additionally, we offer the following services:

CBS Professional Bicycle Maintenance:   $200 . In addition to adjusting your bicycle’s shifting and braking systems, we’ll also do all the little things, many times overlooked by other shops including tightening crank arm bolts torque spec; overhauling and lubricating Mavic freehub bodies; re-taping bottom bracket cups with new plumbers tape; inflating tires to spec.   This package includes new handlebar tape and new shift and brake cables/housing specific to your component manufacturer.

SRM PowerMeter installation and calibration: $50 for wireless; $75 for wired (no charge when sourced from CBS)
We love SRM PowerMeters.   We have installed sensor cables and cranksets on many different types of tube shapes and frame materials; we’ve even become inventive.   We have provided trouble-shooting services for many, many clients using SRM PowerMeters.   In short, our experience and knowledge lends itself to ensuring proper functionality of your SRM system.

Professional wheel build: $50 per wheel ($40 when hubs, rims, and spokes are sourced from CBS)
We specialize in building wheels with Mavic rims, DT double-butted Competition spokes, and alloy nipples using a 3-cross lacing pattern front and rear.    If you have a specific wheel build in mind, contact us for help sourcing parts, and building your next set of wheels.

Bicycle packing for shipping and/or travel: $75 (does not include case rental,  shipping, insurance, or arrival assembly)
We are well aware how quickly time can vanish when preparing for a week-long vacation, and that packing your bicycle for travel or shipping can fall last on the list.  Contact us at least 1 week prior to your trip, and we can have your bicycle packed safely, and ready to go on a plane, or shipped off to your travel destination.

Cyclocross tubular installation: $100 per wheel ($75 when tire and wheel/rim sourced from CBS)
This Old World, multi-day process involves gluing a tubular tire to a rim, in order to gain the ride characteristic benefits (supple and constant traction, at insanely low tire pressure) cyclocross tubular tires can offer.   We exclusively use Vittoria Mastik’One glue, and do not use tubular tape of any kind.   A properly glued cyclocross tubular begins with time spent on one of stretching rims, to ensure clean installation.   From there, you can expect to see at least three layers of glue on tire and on rim.

Professional bicycle build: $175 ($125 when majority of components are sourced from CBS)
Did you just purchase your dream bicycle frame from another retailer, yet desire CBS’s professional assembly skills and expertise, so you can go out and ride your new machine?   We provide assembly services for nearly any brand or model of bicycle.

Consult

Consult

Are you about to purchase a new bicycle from another retailer, but want to ask a few questions about bike fit, model selection, and componentry? Contact us for a professional, 1-on-1 consultation, where you can feel comfortable asking as many questions as you’d like, all for a one-time flat fee. read more

Consult

Often times, we’ll provide consulting services for customers working on special projects where our expertise and experience help guide you-the-consumer to make a more informed purchase.   Sometimes, this means researching specific wheels.   Other times, this means getting together to talk about a brand of bicycle not offered by CBS.    We would love to work with you in one or more of the following ways:

Discovery Process for CBS bicycle, no charge: Are you interested in a brand of bicycle offered at CBS, but need to ask additional questions before getting ready to place an order?   Always feel free to schedule an appointment–at no charge–to discuss all your questions, comments, and considerations.

New bicycle (to be purchased at another retailer) $200: We appreciate that there are times when you-the-consumer desire to purchase a bicycle not offered by CBS, and no matter our best intentions, you have your heart set on BRAND X.   That said, we are extremely confident in our ability to review a manufacturer’s catalog, pay attention to key geometry data, and guide you toward the most appropriate bicycle as it relates to handling, fit, and and componentry.     During this consult, we’ll focus on bike fit, bike use, and component considerations.     (Please note this service differs from CF-1 and CF-2 as described on our Bicycle Fitting page)

Special component consulting, $50; (no charge when sourced from CBS): We have the ability to source nearly any aftermarket component for a bicycle.   Considering a new set of ultra-light carbon wheels?    We can source a variety of wheels from nearly any manufacturer, including Mavic, Edge, Fulcrum, DT Swiss, Campagnolo, Shimano, and Zipp.  When you source components from CBS, we provide consulting advice, expertise, and service at no charge.   If you’d like to order your components from a mail order source, or from a secondary auction site, consider our consulting services to make sure you get the most out of your purchase.
